The weather was perfect for a day of working out. YAA Las Vegas hosted some of the best offensive linemen the camp has seen this circuit. There was a lot of size out there to take a look at. A guy like Mississippi State offensive line coach Phil Loadholt would probably appreciate seeing the talent that was on display:
Jason Lawrence is a 2029 6-foot-6, 295-pound interior offensive lineman from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Lawrence has the build of an offensive tackle, but he made it be known that he is most comfortable at guard. Lawrence already holds offers from Penn State, Texas Tech, Maryland, and more. He knows how to use his hands to keep defenders from bullying him. There was no panic when he was facing the quicker defensive linemen who knew how to make explosive moves in tight space. Despite being a younger player, Lawrence has a solid football I.Q.. The other offensive line prospects at the camp were able to learn a lot from him when they made mistakes on their reps. His name will be buzzing a lot over the next few years. - 138
Oscar Conchas Cruz is a 6-foot-7, 340-pound player who did a good job of moving around at the showcase. Cruz is from Douglas High School (NV). He is a big fellow that does a good job of getting his hands on DL before they engage him. With long arms and big hands, he makes it hard for defenders to get away from him once he gets the advantage. He is confident in his kick step. College coaches are going to get this young man on campus and have a nice prospect to work with. A good strength and conditioning program on the next level could have this kid being a real guy. - 160
Iutana Afele is a 6-foot, 310-pound center from Timpview High School (NV). Afele is a 2028 prospect with a lot of potential. He is one of those guys who does things the right way. His ability to make the right steps in the trenches help him to always be in the right position to stand his ground. He is able to show off confidence against interior defensive linemen who may be a bit quicker than him. Afele was able to show that he has quick feet and impressive agility. His awareness on the field keeps him alert when defenders are trying to hit him with the trick moves. During the drills, he showed that he can move around in a hurry. He has the chance to pick up a lot of attention if he can keep this up at multiple camps during his next two off seasons. Division one programs could benefit from having a player like him on their team. - 233
