On3/Rivals: NJS Prospect Watch Offense, Day 2

The National Junior Showcase was held in Houston, and here are the offensive players who stood out on Day 2:

Quarterbacks

The overall quarterback MVP was Ace Henrichson from Los Angeles, California. Henrichsen is a 2031 prospect who competed in the YAA Los Angeles Regional camp in December but did not win a camp MVP award. He was invited to the YAA Junior National, and his improvement resulted in the camp MVP award.

Freshman Landon Freeman from Fort Dorchester High School in South Carolina made the wide receivers look good with his pinpoint passes. Freeman, 5-10, 145, looks like Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the South Carolina appearance. The South Carolina connection between the two is apparent.

Also winning an MVP award was left-handed quarterback Weston Davis, who will be a freshman at North Gwinnett in Buford, Georgia. Davis, 6-0, 165. He was one of the five camp MVP award winners for quarterback.

Blake Heidelberg, a 2030 prospect from Orlando, was one of the best quarterbacks during the quarterback drills on day one. He followed that up with a good showing on day two, completing passes and showing off his arm strength.

Other top award winners include Abraham Alarcon from Texas, 2030 Andrew McNeel, and Judson Wright.

Running Backs

Trent Blake (5-5, 135) was an easy selection as he dominated his matchups against the linebackers during the cat-and-mouse drill and the 1-on-1 matchups. He has great speed, quick feet, and is very shifty in open space.

Running back Tre Abeita (2031) attends Wallace Middle School in Texas and is expected to attend Jack C Hays High School when he enters high school. Abeita was a top performer on Day 1 and received Running Back Honorable Mention on Day 2.

Other running backs returning to middle school this fall include Jaden Ott, Antonio Thompson, Derek Jones, Cedric Fields, and Marcellus Cain.

Receivers

Kale Doll-Harris (5-11, 172) took home the top receiver award in the largest position group, with over 100 other receivers vying for top honors. He ran excellent routes and also has a physical presence, making several difficult catches in traffic. Kale Doll-Harris is from Kansas City, Missouri, and says he will attend Ray Peck High School. He previously won a camp invite with a camp MVP at the Kansas City YAA Showcase.

I noticed Houma Christian receiver Logan Lewis (6-1) early on Day 1 of the YAA Junior Nationals. He was one of several receivers who I believe will be better fits at other positions as they navigate through high school. Still, as a receiver, Lewis was one of the best, earning a camp MVP award. I had him as the 2nd-best receiver I saw on both days.

Orlando native AJ Abreu (5-10, 150) consistently provided an open target to the quarterbacks, and he showed natural pass-catching skills. Abreu will attend Timber Creek High School and is a player to keep on the recruiting radar.

Another receiver award winner from Houma Christian was 2030 Jamar Celestine Jr., who posted that he has an offer from the University of Louisiana. Celestine stood out with his red shorts and his speed while running the go route. He has some growing to do, but his talent is evident.

Christopher Geiger, a 2030 prospect from Foundation Academy in Florida, won a camp MVP award. He was not recognized by the wide receiver coaches on Day 1, but was recognized by the media as one of the top performers.

Local product Malik Davis (5-9, 152), from Houston, may have taken advantage of knowing the environment to perform at a high level. Davis, who will attend host school CE Davis, won a YAA Camp Award as a top receiver.

Offensive Line

Scott Murphy from Dublin, Ohio, was selected as the top offensive lineman. He will attend Dublin-Jerome High School as an interior offensive lineman. His combination of size, strength, and maneuverability allowed him to win most of his one-on-one battles.

Bex Mason from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a 2030 prospect who received recognition on day 1 and day 2 of the YAA Showcase. Mason has great size at 6-3 and 240 poun ds, and he worked out at left tackle. He showed good leverage in the pass-blocking drills, winning more battles than he lost.

Lincoln Coons is 6-1, 280 from Phoenix, Arizona, who projects to be a fit at either guard or center. He spent most of the morning as a right tackle.

Offensive Lineman Jayden Hall (6-0, 290) didn’t win a camp MVP award, but he was recognized for Honorable Mention. Hall will attend Miami Southridge Senior High School.
