Here are the top offensive prospects from the YouAreAthlete (YAA) Los Angeles Showcase.

Quarterbacks
The quarterback competition was fierce. Earning the overall quarterback MVP was sophomore Anthony Barquinero (6-3, 200) from Oceanside High School. Barquinero threw for 2,046 yards and 27 touchdowns last season. He consistently performed well and was accurate with his downfield passes.

I was particularly excited about Mater Dei freshman quarterback Trevor Scott. At just 15 years old, Scott (6-4, 205) has a cannon for an arm. He made several deep throws that left the camp coaches in awe. Although he may not start right now, he did get some varsity pass attempts last season. Scott is a YAA returnee and won MVP in the Middle School group last year. He has an offer from Sacramento State.

Alexander Doucette (6-2, 175) was also in the running for top quarterback. He earned an invitation as one of the Top 5 quarterback MVPs. The freshman from Chaparral High School was accurate with his passes in all zones. Doucette played JV as a freshman and is waiting behind Rivals 4-star recruit Dane Weber (2027).

Receivers
Junior Jaiden Combal (6-1, 180) was selected as the camp WR MVP. He was my favorite after the early drills. Combal has the size and length to be a solid possession receiver. He is physical and won several 50/50 balls with his strength. As a junior at Bishop Amat, he recorded 24 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns.

I disagreed with the coaches regarding the top receiver. I felt Brayden Edwards (5-11, 175) from Mater Dei was the top wideout. He won all his head-to-head matchups and scored two touchdowns in the 7-on-7 drills. Edwards made every route and catch look effortless. He didn’t see much time for a stacked Mater Dei program, but he could emerge as the top receiver recruit from the camp.
Sophomore Jeremy Bonhomme stood out at the YouAreAthlete Los Angeles camp. I can see him receiving multiple Power 5 offers by the end of his junior year. Bonhomme’s confidence matches his skill set. He already has an offer from Arizona State.
Junior Robert Harris (6-4, 220) is a big, athletic prospect. He showcased his pass-catching skills at the YAA Los Angeles Camp. He has the hands of a receiver and the physical build of a tight end. Last year, he played for Paraclete High School in Lancaster.
Running Backs
Running backs are tough to gauge at showcases since they don’t get to run the football. However, it’s easy to spot the top performers through available drills.
Senior Damon Mitchell (6-1, 180) was the top performer. He gave 100 percent effort on every drill and rep. He finished his senior year with 1,509 rushing yards and a 10.6 average with 17 rushing touchdowns. Although he currently has no offers, he has the attributes of a productive college player.
Freshman Mark Allen already tips the scales at 6-0, 205 pounds of muscle. He has a Power 5 offer from the University of Southern California. Allen had only a few carries on varsity for powerhouse Mater Dei as a freshman, but he will likely continue to receive D1 offers.

Offensive Line
The top offensive lineman was junior Issaias Amaya (6-4, 315) from Dana Hills High School. Amaya was surprisingly nimble while thwarting the pass rush attempts of the defensive ends. He consistently positioned himself well and used his large frame against both speed and power rushers.
Freshman Cameron Bolds (6-1, 319) earned one of the five Offensive Lineman MVPs. Bolds claims he can play anywhere along the offensive line and at defensive tackle, but he expects to play offensive guard at the next level.
Conclusion
The YAA Los Angeles Showcase highlighted some incredible talent. Each player showcased their skills and potential. As an elite high school football prospect, I know how crucial these opportunities are. They can change the trajectory of a player's career. I look forward to seeing how these young athletes develop in the coming years.
