YAA Los Angeles Junior 150 Standouts

ree

The top youth & middle school prospects from the west coast were in attendance at the YAA Los Angeles Junior 150 on Dec 6th.

The prospects below earned an invitation to the You Are Athlete National Junior Showcase on June 13-14th in Houston, TX.

QUARTERBACKS:

Ethan Hill

ree

Hill is a pure pocket passer, who throws with timing and great anticipation. Has good presence and anticipation for his age. Solid prospect to keep an eye on.

Romeo Gerecht

Smooth delivery with soft touch on deep throws. Accurate and can fit the ball into tight windows. Calm demeanor. Plays in control.

He has true D1 upside if he continues to improve year over year.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Jayden Kang

ree

Accelerates well out of breaks. Knows how to set up a route. Soft, strong hands. Good young-gun prospect.

Declan Crilly

ree

Crilly shows the ability to create splash plays at all levels. He easily creates separation off the line of scrimmage and is a downfield threat with high level change of direction and pace within his routes. Tracks the ball well downfield. Solid young 2031 prospect.

Jeffrey Palega

ree

Palega has advanced skills and physical ability as a pass catcher with his high-end speed pairing with a large catch radius and natural ball skills. Presents a considerable mismatch as a target when working up the seam. Primarily plays wide receiver for his school, but has the physical dimensions to develop into a pass-catching in-line tight end who can play flexed in the slot as well.

Matteo Pharms

ree

Pharms had D1 in his blood. He’s quick release off the line, ability to go up and get the ball. Difficult to jam at the line of scrimmage especially for his age. He’s going to be a big prospect when all said and done.

OFFENSIVE LINE:

Nick Cereghino

ree

Versatile offensive lineman with the ability to play all three positions at the HS level potentially especially based on how he grows but size wise. Cereghino does projects best as an interior lineman. For now he shows good feet, short area quickness and advanced technique.

Anthony Trimble

ree

Shorter in stature than most top offensive linemen, but has very long arms which translate well to line play. Plays with good leverage and uses his lower base level and strength to anchor on contact.

Tupu Bustillo

ree

Bustillo has solid flexibility and bend to change directions with agility and gain leverage advantages. Solid as a pass blocker with room to continue developing his body and skills over time.

DEFENSIVE LINE:

Steven Tuiileila

ree

Tuiileila is quick off the snap and has the ability to disrupt plays frequently. Has heavy hands and finishes plays with violence and authority.

Kingston Douglass

ree

Has straight-line speed and explosion along with functional strength that register on the high end for top prospects at the position. Plays with a high effort level at using leverage and strength to win at the point of attack.

Westley Maulupe-Su’a

ree

Explosive, strong, and blocks to the whistle. Great finisher. Also shows his athleticism on defense where he can play in space at his size.

RUNNING BACKS:

Raymond Encinas

ree

Does not waste movement. Effective pass catcher. Quick, focused runner who runs with vision.

Jeremiah Dunklin

ree

Light-footed in the hole with an impressive initial burst. Unique in his ability as a smooth runner who also finishes runs with strength. Elusive one-cut slasher who makes the most of his touches.

DEFENSIVE BACKS:

Devin Reyes

ree

Reyes possesses solid closing speed. He drives well on balls thrown in front. He can be physical and aggressive, once he puts his hands on you. He’s also unafraid to line up in man-to-man press coverage.

LINEBACKERS:

Alex Pazos

ree

Has shown plus body control. Sound tackler. Diagnoses plays well. Overall, a strong competitor who should garner varsity attention next year.

Chasen Kannard

ree

Has good closing speed. Plays well in traffic. Can disengage. Good in coverage depth. Athletic. Going to be a good player, if he continues to improve and hone in on LB. Right now he plays both ways.

Major Garcia

ree

Garcia shows very nice range on defense with the ability to play in space. He has good closing speed and doesn’t mind being physical at the point of attack. Room for growth but still extremely young 2031 prospect.

Everett Trudell

ree

Trudell is a thick, densely-built athlete with a powerful base and the potential to add significant weight on the next level. He possesses natural power, wits and will simply do what you ask him to do. Should mold into a consistent/reliable backer.
