247Sports: Defensive Skill Personnel Take the Stage at YAA Birmingham

Saturday saw skill position players take the spotlight at the You Are Athlete combine held in Birmingham. YAA is very good at getting these type of players in a setting to showcase their talents, and provide some training as well.

Here are some players from this camp who you need to know and follow:

2027 DB Kevaughn Peters out of Petal HS (MS)

Kevaughn Peters is one of those players who college coaches should go ahead and get their eyes on before his stock starts to rise this summer. Peters is a 6-foot, 180-pound young man from Petal High School in Mississippi who has a lot of skills. This 2027 prospect can move his feet and also turn his hips, so the question is not whether he will be playing defense on the next level. It is will be he a safety or a cornerback, and watching him get around the field Peters has the look of a corner man. Peters has incredible ball skills that allow him to showcase how much of a skill player he really is.

2028 DB Trendon Harden out of North Pontotoc (MS.)

Trendon Harden is a 2028 cornerback from North Pontotoc High School in Mississippi who has also a very good build for a defensive back. He is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound player with a very wide wingspan at his age. Harden also owns the ability to play safety and corner and with those long arms of his are very active in press coverage. He also has the footwork that allows him to easily change directions when he needs to. Harden holds an offer from Ole Miss. There are going to be more offers coming his way. This is going to be a big summer for him to get his name out there more.

2027 DB Braiden Howard out of Opelika HS (AL)

Braiden Howard is a 2027 cornerback from Opelika High School in Alabama who did a good job of showcasing his talent yesterday. Howard is 5-foot-10, 175-pounds and does a good job of getting in and out of his back pedal in coverage. He is one of the players yesterday who was able to show his ability to keep up with receivers in 1v1s. He does not shy away from going up against the best pass catchers. Howard already holds multiple division one offers. That speed to go along with his height and weight are some things that coaches pay attention to in his recruitment.

2028 LB Trevaughn Robinson out of Forest County Agricultural HS (MS)

Trevaughn Robinson is a 2028 linebacker from Forrest Country Agricultural High School (MS). Robinson is 6-foot-1, 200-pounds and is new to camps and combines. He did not disappoint on the stage yesterday. Robinson was able to show that he can pick up his feet without being clumsy and that he is not a player who can only play going downhill. Robinson looks like a machine. It is true, he does need to work on being more flexible and turning his hips better. That will come with time because Robinson showed good speed and good awareness when he was 1v1 drills. He is a player to keep up with.
