Prospects at the YouAreAthlete High School Showcase held in Chicago had to deal with cold weather and the Chicago wind. Athletes from all position groups were selected to compete in Houston for the All American Showcase. Here are some of the top prospects:
Top Prospects

Vel Phillips Memorial receiver Sam Aparicio (5-8, 165) was the Wide Receiver MVP at the YouAreAthlete Showcase in Chicago. He finished his junior season with 626 yards receiving on 28 catches with seven touchdowns. Aparicio has a smaller frame but plays fast. He projects as a slot receiver in college but is still waiting for his first offer.
The top running back at the YouAreAthlete Showcase in Chicago was sophomore Terrance Epperson (5-8, 175) from Fort Wayne, Indiana. You can tell from the first meeting with him that he is a running back with his chiseled frame and powerful legs. He had an outstanding sophomore season at Bishop Luers with 1462 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. Epperson has the look of him hitting the camp season in force to earn his 1st offer.
Earning the top offensive lineman at the YouAreAthlete Chicago Showcase was junior Justin Strzelczyk (6-3, 265) from Lincoln Way East in Frankfort, Illinois. The YAA position coach told me Strzelczyk did lose a rep during the 1-on-1 matchups. I listed Strzelczyk as a tackle, but he may have to move inside in college if he doesn’t add more mass.
The YouAreAthlete Chicago Showcase quarterbacks struggled with the cold weather and blustery Chicago wind. Winning MVP was duel-threat quarterback Malachi Henigan (5-10, 170), who was the most accurate despite the conditions. Henigan played in two varsity games as a sophomore and will compete for a starting role this season.
Junior Connor Boyles (6-2, 200) from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, earned the top linebacker honors at the YouAreAthlete Chicago Showcase. Boyles used his size and length in pass coverage and during the head-to-head matchups against the running backs.
Sophomore Bennett Coulter (5-10) from Madison, Wisconsin, was the defensive back MVP at the YouAreAthlete Showcase in Chicago. In his sophomore season, Coulter recorded 25 solo stops with two picks and three tackles for loss.
